New year, new me? For some yes, others may be letting the new year start a little bit slower.

As New Year’s resolutions kicked off many fitness related apps saw increases in engagement on January 1st. PureGym saw an 88% increase in time spent compared to the 1st December. Trackers like Fitbit (now part of Google) (+37%) and MyFitnessPal (+19%) also saw healthy month-on-month increases.

Others may have been bringing in the new year more slowly, potentially due to the celebrations the day before. The Domino’s app saw a 65% increase in time spent compared to December 1st with Deliveroo (+47%) following suit. Deliveries may have been coming in as people settled in to watch the first episode of the new series of The Traitors, as the BBC iPlayer app saw a 28% rise in time spent compared to Christmas Day.
